Class Info pdf: Pate de Verre: Particle Possibilities

Pate de verre is an ancient glass casting technique using finely crushed glass packed into negative molds and kiln fired to create sculptural objects with subtle luminosity. The technique allows the artist to control color placement, shading and degree of translucency unique to this casting process.

This 5 day, hands-on class, class will introduce students to the many possibilities of working sculpturally using pate de verre. Students will also learn to use the lost wax technique to create original, full size, 3 dimensional sculptures or vessels to be cast into glass.  Students will make 1 project and several samples.
